Glenn Funk, Nashville District Attorney announced that his office will no longer prosecute people charged with possessing less than half an ounce of marijuana. This decision is in line with a growing number of states legalizing and decriminalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Funk said that for the justice system “the elimination of such charges will decrease jail housing expenses and reduce the number of cases that courts and clerk’s offices handle”. Nashville Mayor John Cooper told NewsChannel5 he supports the policy change.
