As of July 3, the push for cannabis legalization on the ballot in Arkansas is officially over. Many advocates pointed to COVID-19 as one of the main reasons the petition was stopped in its tracks. All types of gatherings where petitioners typically collect signatures were hindered by pandemic as the campaign was only able to collect half of the required signatures by the deadline. Also, a legal battle over the signature-gathering procedures only added to the ballot challenges.
