A St. Louis company called WeedCert is currently at the center of a state investigation into about 600 fake certifications that occurred during tell a-visits. Missouri unlike other states with strict cannabis regulations does not track how many certifications doctors are issuing or which company is paying the doctor. The fraudulent activity has caused hundreds of patients to scramble to get re-certified and the whole situation demonstrates how other lapses that could leave physicians and patients vulnerable to similar scams. Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the attorney general’s office haven’t said whether they believe Lou Moynihan, 33, who was instrumental in the launch of the company WeedCerts, knew or participated in the fraudulent activity.
