Recently, a criminal justice task force created by the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign created in partnership with former 2020 primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders did not recommend supporting legalizing cannabis. The group released a 100-page review of their legislative endorsements and said, “Democrats will decriminalize marijuana use and reschedule it through executive action on the federal level.” Many members have spoken publicly about their desire for Biden to further evolve his cannabis possession, but they could not reach a consensus on the path of the legalization going forward.
