During a press briefing on the Corona Virus pandemic, the New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy discussed how legalizing marijuana could help the state recover from a dire financial situation. The Governor remarked how New Jersey’s struggling economy will new revenue sources to weather damage from the coronavirus outbreak; as the state is projecting to spend additional and could borrow as much as $9.9 billion over the next year. Furthermore, Murphy acknowledged the role legalization could play in criminal justice through decriminalization.
