Advocates of legalizing marijuana through North Dakota’s constitution are trying to restart a proposed legalization ballot measure after coming up short on signatures. On Wednesday, petitioners had a year to acquire at least 26,904 valid signatures but missed earlier deadlines to make this year’s June and November election ballots. Supporters plan to continue to gather signatures, hoping for a June 2022 vote. Currently, in North Dakota, the environment for legalization is considered suitable by supports because the Legislature’s interim Judiciary Committee is studying the potential impacts of marijuana legalization in North Dakota.
