In Texas, the benefits of cannabis today are not able to access to many patients because of the state’s limited medical cannabis program, which only allows for products with .5% THC or less. However, the passage of a Texas hemp legalization bill in 2019 has opened the door to the wide availability of regulated CBD products. Although Texas is known for its highly conservative stance on cannabis, new state rules and regulations are distorting the lines between CBD products meant for patients and general consumers. State officials say there’s a lot of confusion that exists between what medical marijuana licensed product is and what someone might be able to buy at a farmer’s market or at a local grocery store.
