The governor of Pennsylvania is calling on lawmakers to legalize marijuana to aid the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. Also, the governor proposed the idea that the state itself would sell cannabis to consumers. During a press conference on Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf spoke about his plan to address the COVID-19 crisis by including legalization prominently on his agenda. Wolf argued tax revenue from marijuana sales could help “supplement” relief loans provided by the federal government. However, Wolf is suggesting lawmakers pursue a state-run cannabis model unlike Colorado and all other legal markets. With this new plan, Wolf aligned himself with a majority of Senate Democrats.
