In the state of Florida, regulators have finalized regulations to allow the sale of edible cannabis products. Effective August 27th, 2020, the Florida Department of Health said edibles are available as a route of administration to qualified medical cannabis patients. The health department said, if a physician agrees that edibles are an appropriate route of administration for medical patients, they can add edibles to the patients qualified already existing certification. According to the regulations, edibles must be in geometric shapes and can be in the form of lozenges, gelatins, baked goods, chocolates or drink powders. However, the edibles must not contain any color additives and must also not bear a reasonable resemblance to commercially available candy. This new edible regulation is expected to increase medical marijuana sales in Florida. In accordance with the new regulation Truelieve Cannabis, a medical cannabis company said it will soon begin to offer edible cannabis products to the patients in Florida.
