The Government of Colombia has declared the medical cannabis industry a Project of National and Strategic Interest (PINE). With this priority status, government officials predict the execution of strategic projects and regulatory processes can be accelerated. Among the favored companies are Clever Leaves and Pharma Cielo, two of the main licensed operators and producers of pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoids. For Clever Leaves, the designation as PINE shows the support of the Government of Colombia to the work in favor of the industry, as well as the importance of its economic contributions to Colombia and the growing medical cannabis industry. According to the company, this designation will allow Clever Leaves to speed up and simplify administrative processes while the company continues to develop new products and services to offer to different markets.
