One of Germany’s largest pharmaceutical firms has entered the medical cannabis space with the launch of two flower products – and six more products to follow. Hesse-based Stada, Germany’s fifth-largest pharmaceutical company, announced late last year it had entered into an agreement with Canadian firm MediPharm Labs. German business newspaper Handelsblatt says Stada will shortly launch ‘two flower products and intends to offer a total of five flower products and three extracts with different THC and CBD concentrations in the coming months. Cannabis has been permitted for therapeutic use in Germany since 2017 with statutory health insurance reimbursing patients in around two-thirds of the cases.
