On February 1st, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and fellow Democrat Senators Cory Booker and Ron Wyden issued a joint statement suggesting that they would be drafting comprehensive cannabis reform legislation. Almost four months later, this hasn’t yet happened. Boris Jordan suggested on Curaleaf’s Q1 conference call that the hold-up is due to Schumer conferring with the FDA about its potential role. He stated that he expected the legislation to be introduced in May, which would mean this week. While the exact timing is uncertain, it’s quite apparent that legislation will be introduced soon and that this could be one of the most important moments to date for the cannabis industry and its investors
