The numbers are in and New Mexico saw a huge jump in marijuana sales on Wednesday. That’s because 4/20 is a day dedicated to celebrating cannabis. It was the first on the day that celebrated all of their key products, cannabis dispensaries won big.“It’s an amazing day,” said John Fisher, Dreamz Dispensary. “It’s a special day, right? I mean, this is the first official 420 for recreational in New Mexico. So, everybody should be, you know, greatly excited and I know we are.” The numbers show it. The state saw more than $2.2 million in total cannabis sales in a single day. That was roughly double the $1.18 million in sales made last Wednesday across New Mexico.“This number, which is double what we usually see on a typical Wednesday, proved that that excitement was warranted,” said Victor Reyes, deputy superintendent for the NM Regulation & Licensing Department. “But that prediction of excitement was warranted, and I think it was on track for our expectations,” Reyes said it proves the industry is only going to grow and create more jobs.
