Another Alabama House committee has approved a Senate-passed bill to legalize medical marijuana in the state, sending it to the floor. About one week after a separate panel amended and cleared the legislation, the House Health Committee on Thursday voted to advance the proposal in a voice vote. The panel first discussed the measure on Wednesday and made a series of amendments. Sponsored by Sen. Tim Melson (R), the bill would allow people with qualifying conditions to access cannabis for therapeutic purposes. The full Senate approved the bill last month. The latest proposal would establish an Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission to implement regulations and oversee licensing.
