A Charlotte, N.C.-based CBD company is suing a private charter flight company after a jet carrying 3,200 pounds (1,451 kilograms) of its stock was first seized at the local airport and then destroyed. We CBD, LLC and We C Manage have filed a federal lawsuit over the confiscation on Monday, asserting that the flight company, Planet Nine Private Air, LLC, failed to provide the necessary paperwork to ship the goods. The CBD company claims US$2 million ($ 2.5 million) worth of cannabis products were seized by airport authorities. The products were subsequently destroyed, according to WSOC-TV. The CBD company hired Planet Nine to transport hemp between Oregon and Zurich, Switzerland last November, with the jet making a planned stop to refuel at Charlotte Douglas International Airport along the way. We CBD asserts that hemp, which is defined as cannabis that contains 0.3 percent THC or less, is federally legal, and should not have been confiscated. Hemp is often harvested for popular ingredient-du-jour CBD, a psychoactive but non-intoxicating compound in the cannabis plant. The pot purveyors claim in their suit that the jet company was responsible for handling “all necessary filings and administrative details related to the cargo and passengers with the United States,” reports WSOC-TV.
